Limited inventory may still be available. Contact us for recommended replacement options or upgraded solutions.
The TCA-MS 8 Channel Thermocouple Amplifier is a high-performance signal conditioning module designed to convert low-level Type K thermocouple signals into stable, linearized voltage outputs. Built specifically for applications such as exhaust gas temperature (EGT) monitoring and multi-point thermal measurement, this amplifier enables accurate, real-time temperature data acquisition across multiple channels.
With support for up to eight independent thermocouple inputs, compact form factor, and simple integration with data acquisition systems and engine control units, the TCA-MS is a proven solution for demanding testing, motorsports, and industrial applications.
Multi-Channel Type K Thermocouple Signal Conditioning
The TCA-MS is designed to process up to eight independent Type K thermocouple inputs simultaneously, making it ideal for applications that require monitoring multiple temperature points at once.
Each input channel is independently conditioned and converted into a corresponding analog voltage output, allowing users to:
Monitor multiple exhaust gas temperatures
Track temperature distribution across systems
Analyze thermal performance in real time
Simplify multi-sensor installations
This multi-channel capability is especially valuable in motorsports, engine development, and industrial testing environments.
Designed for Type K Thermocouples
The TCA-MS is optimized specifically for Type K thermocouples, one of the most widely used sensor types for high-temperature applications.
Key advantages of Type K compatibility include:
Wide temperature measurement range
Durability in harsh environments
Fast response for dynamic conditions
The module supports a temperature measurement range of:
-193 to +2282°F (-125 to +1250°C)
This makes it well suited for applications involving extreme temperatures, including exhaust systems, industrial processes, and thermal testing.
Linearized Analog Output for Easy Integration
The TCA-MS converts thermocouple signals into linearized analog outputs, making it easy to interface with a wide range of instrumentation and control systems.
Output range: -0.5 to +5 VDC
0 VDC corresponds to 0°C
Scale factor: 2.2 mV/°F (4.0 mV/°C)
This standardized output simplifies integration with:
Data acquisition systems (DAQ)
Aftermarket ECUs and engine management systems
Temperature indicators and displays
Chart recorders and control systems
The linear output ensures that temperature data can be easily interpreted and processed by downstream equipment.
Fast Response for Real-Time Monitoring
With a response time greater than 1 millisecond, the TCA-MS is capable of capturing rapid temperature changes in dynamic systems.
This fast response makes it ideal for applications such as:
Exhaust gas temperature monitoring
Engine tuning and diagnostics
Transient thermal testing
High-speed data acquisition
The ability to track fast-changing temperatures provides critical insight into system performance and helps support accurate tuning and control.
Built-In Cold Junction Compensation (CJC)
Accurate thermocouple measurement requires proper cold junction compensation. The TCA-MS features integrated on-board CJC, automatically correcting for ambient temperature at the input connection.
This ensures:
Improved measurement accuracy
Reduced need for external compensation hardware
Consistent performance across varying environmental conditions
Additional Output Channel for Expanded Functionality
In addition to the eight thermocouple channels, the TCA-MS includes a ninth output channel for accelerometer input, expanding its functionality for applications that require combined thermal and motion data.
Accelerometer scale factor: 625 mV/g
This added capability makes the module particularly useful in motorsports and testing environments where vibration and temperature data are analyzed together.
Compact, Rugged Design
The TCA-MS is designed for easy integration into a wide range of systems, with a compact footprint and durable construction.
Dimensions: 7.0" x 3.5" x 1.6"
Weight: approximately 0.6 lbs
The enclosure is rated IP51, providing protection against dust and limited moisture exposure, making it suitable for both laboratory and field environments.
Easy Installation and Connectivity
The module is designed for straightforward installation with minimal setup time.
Key features include:
(8) mini thermocouple input connectors
Detachable output and power wiring harness
12-conductor, 22 AWG cable (3 ft length)
This plug-and-play design simplifies wiring and allows for quick integration into existing systems.
Low Power Consumption
The TCA-MS operates on a wide input voltage range:
Supply voltage: 10 to 32 VDC
Current draw: less than 50 mA
This low power requirement makes it suitable for mobile systems, battery-powered setups, and energy-efficient applications.
Reliable Performance in Industrial Environments
The TCA-MS is built to operate reliably in a variety of environmental conditions:
Operating temperature: 32°F to 125°F (0°C to 50°C)
Humidity: up to 85% RH (non-condensing)
Its robust design ensures consistent performance in demanding applications.
Typical Applications
