LVIT Technology = a longer life-span than a Potentiometer!
HGSI ILPS-9.5Z series Miniature Linear Variable Inductive Transducer (LVIT) Position Sensor with Rod End Joints are used to monitor and track the linear motion or position of a target. These ruggedized sensors are ideal for use in industrial and laboratory applications including automotive R&D, motorsports, industrial, motion control, medical, military and aerospace.
The inductive coil and spoiler combination is a contactless solution, eliminating the wear and dithering issues commonly experienced with Potentiometer type sensors. The amplifier electronics are contained within the housing, no need for an external signal conditioner.
The ILPS-9.5Z series sensor is made from industrial duty materials for resistance to dust, water, temperature, shock, and vibration.
The SenSet Field Programmability feature allows for quick and easy recalibration of the units’ zero and full scale electrical output.

Advanced LVIT Technology
The ILPS-9.5Z employs HGSI’s signature LVIT (Linear Variable Inductive Transducer) technology, using a precision-engineered inductive coil and moving spoiler to deliver a proportional electrical output without mechanical contact. This eliminates the wear-and-tear, signal dither, and reliability issues common in potentiometric sensors—making the ILPS-9.5Z an excellent alternative for applications where long-term performance and low maintenance are critical.
Miniature Through-Bore Design
At just 9.5 mm in diameter, the ILPS-9.5Z is one of the smallest linear position sensors available. This makes it ideal for compact mechanical assemblies and embedded sensing applications.
Applications
Automotive and Motorsports
The ILPS-9.5Z is ideal for space-limited environments in motorsports and automotive R&D—providing reliable position data for suspensions, throttle bodies, shifting linkages, and more.
Medical and Laboratory Equipment
In medical and lab environments, its small size and contactless performance support clean, reliable integration into precision test and motion control systems.
Industrial Automation
For robotics, packaging machines, and miniature actuators, the ILPS-9.5Z delivers consistent and accurate feedback with minimal integration requirements.
Aerospace and Defense
Its lightweight construction, shock resistance, and long life make it ideal for aerospace controls, UAV systems, and rugged defense applications where space is limited but performance cannot be compromised.
