LVIT Technology = a longer life-span than a Potentiometer!
HGSI ILPS-19S series Spring Loaded Linear Variable Inductive Transducer (LVIT) Position Sensors are used to monitor and track the linear motion or position of a target.. These ruggedized sensors are ideal for use in industrial and laboratory applications including automotive R&D, motorsports, industrial, motion control, medical, military and aerospace.
The inductive coil and spoiler combination is a contactless solution, eliminating the wear and dithering issues commonly experienced with Potentiometer type sensors. The amplifier electronics are contained within the housing, no need for an external signal conditioner.
The ILPS-19S series sensor is made from industrial duty materials for resistance to dust, water, temperature, shock, and vibration.
The SenSet Field Programmability feature allows for quick and easy recalibration of the units’ zero and full scale electrical output.

Advanced LVIT Technology
Contactless Performance, Long-Term Reliability
The ILPS-19S employs contactless LVIT technology, eliminating the mechanical wear common in potentiometers. The sensor’s internal coil and moving spoiler work together to generate a signal based on inductance changes—resulting in smooth, low-noise, and highly repeatable output. With no sliding contacts, the ILPS-19S is virtually maintenance-free and engineered for high-cycle operation.
Spring-Loaded Convenience
The integrated return spring enables the sensor’s shaft to remain in contact with the measurement surface or target at all times—making the ILPS-19S an ideal solution for surface measurement, dimensional gaging, and test fixtures where automatic return-to-zero is desired.
