APD 4058 - Strain Gauge Bridge/Load Cell to DC Transmitter - Field Configurable

OVERVIEW

• DC Voltage Input: 0-5 mV to 0-1200 mV
• DC Output: 0-1 V, 0-5 V, 0-10 V, +/- 5 V, +/- 10 V, 4-20 mA, etc.
• Strain Gauge Bridge Excitation: 1 to 10 VDC
• Field-Configurable by User

The APD 4058 accepts an input from a strain gauge, bridge type sensor, load cell, or pressure transducer. It filters, amplifies, and converts the resulting millivolt signal into the selected DC voltage or current output that is linearly related to the input. The output is not electrically isolated. The adjustable excitation power supply generates a stable source of voltage to drive your sensor. Input, output, excitation and zero offset are field configurable, via external rotary and slide switches. Offsets up to ±100% of span can be used to cancel sensor offsets or non-zero dead weights (taring).

  • Accepts millivolt signals from bridge-based sensors

  • Amplifies and filters the input signal

  • Outputs a proportional DC voltage or current signal

This allows seamless integration with:

  • PLCs and automation systems

  • Data acquisition systems

  • Process controllers and indicators

Wide Input Compatibility for Bridge-Based Sensors

The APD 4058 supports a broad range of input types:

  • Bridge resistance: 100 Ω to 10,000 Ω

  • Sensitivity: 0.5 mV/V to 120 mV/V

  • Millivolt input range: 0 to 5 mV up to 0 to 1200 mV

This flexibility makes the module compatible with:

  • Load cells

  • Strain gauge pressure sensors

  • Bridge-based force and torque sensors

  • Industrial weighing systems

Adjustable Excitation Power Supply

A key feature of the APD 4058 is its built-in excitation power supply:

  • Output: 0 to 10 VDC (adjustable in 1 V increments)

  • Fine adjustment: ±2.5% via potentiometer

  • Drive capability: One 100 Ω to 10,000 Ω bridge

The excitation supply provides a stable voltage source to power your sensor, ensuring consistent and accurate measurement results.
